There was also a modern Russian Federation flag flying, instead of what would have been the USSR colours. Not to mention the Pak40 1st SS Panzer Division markings, which would be incredibly rare if seen at all on the armour-plate of that gun. Having said that, the Pak40s that dotted the map that looked to be a much larger calibre than 75mm. My favourite level of the map is the Stalingrad nightmare (which is definitely Stalingrad gauging from the downed Ju52, early model T-34s and general cold feel of the map, as well as it being a nod to Tripwire’s other game Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad).

Granted, I do think that this is one of the purposes of the Demolitionist and this may just be my personal grudge against them stealing all my kills in matches. What’s more, the Stalingrad map enables Demolitionists to essentially camp the spawns with sustained grenade launcher fire. Like when you are miniaturised (a design I loved, by the way, especially with the giant clown watching T.V) the map is extremely open leading to it being rather easy to just pick off the Zeds across the map (I imagine on higher difficulties that will not be a problem). One thing I would say is that certain levels are designed in such a way that they are far easier to play than others. As it stands, Nightmare is still roughly equivalent to two or even three full-sized maps in one. Would it be too much to ask for a different level for each wave, even on 10 waves, like in Descent? That might be a little too ambitious. This basically means on longer matches (seven or ten waves) some of the levels will repeat a couple of times. The thing is, there are around eight levels in total (including the fixed starter, penultimate, and boss level). I personally like the general aesthetic of the maps very much. The variety of the five or so levels will more than likely mean at least one of them will appeal to any player. It was ambitious, and in my opinion, it paid off. I’d say this was a good thing because it is essentially multiple medium-sized maps in one. The map was quite spooky, the best way I could describe it would be a combination of Infernal Realm and The Descent. Nightmare is essentially ‘The Descent’ map but on a larger scale – sporting different ‘levels’ that change each wave.
